Ongoing Professional Development for Center Workers (Tartu, April 19, 2025)
Currently in progress at Tartu University: the training course "How to Keep the Professional Level High", led by Tõnu Jürjen. This 30-hour course is designed to strengthen the administrative, managerial, and leadership capacities of center workers – with a strong focus on Motivational Interviewing (MI) 5 UA universities of cohort of BURN project.
The course introduces the basics of MI, equipping participants with key tools to better connect with clients and support meaningful motivation and change.

Understanding the Spirit and Core Concepts of MI
Exploring the Four MI Processes
Practicing conversation skills that enhance client engagement
Participants are learning to:
- Recognize and apply core principles of MI
- Analyze consultation practices through the MI lens
- Demonstrate MI Spirit in everyday client interactions
- Use essential communication skills to boost client motivation, even in short moments
This training is already proving to be a valuable resource for those working on the frontlines of social and support services – helping to ensure a high standard of professionalism, empathy, and effectiveness.
